Our stories, the core elements of who we are, have been influenced by the way others see us and react to us. As humans we share similar experiences, but our personal relationship with those events are unique to us as individuals.
Strangers, loved ones, allies, and opponents have all shaped who I am today. And while my interactions have been distinct between these groups, my message has been the same. I live an unapologetically authentic life. I do this by writing and speaking my truth.
I relate my everyday experiences to sexuality, gender identity, gender expression, and LGBTQ topics. My normal makes some people very uncomfortable. My queer nonbinary identity doesn’t make sense to some. My transgender daughter doesn’t make sense to others. So I talk about all of it. There is beauty in telling my story. It makes me feel heard and less alone.
I hope it does the same for you.
